Insertion Poem-New York

If you were here beside me, instead of in New York
(But you aren't really, though...)
If the curve of you was curved on me
(Like you never really have...)
I'd tell you that I loved you, before I even knew you
(And you would run so  far and fast...)
'Cause I loved the simple thought of you
(I'd rather be complex...)

If our hearts are never broken and there's no joy in the mending
(Please don't break my heart)
There's so much this hurt can teach us both,
(I'd rather be dumb)
And there's distance and there's silence, your words have never left me,
(Why did you have to do that?)
They're the prayer that I say every day
(Please God...)

The lone neon lights and the ache of the ocean
(Peace)
And the fire that was starting to spark
(Let it burn)
I miss it all, from the love to the lightning
(Bring it back)
And the lack of it snaps me in two
(I'm broken)

If you were here beside me, instead of in New York
(Why aren't you...)
In the arms you said you'd never leave
(Never promise...)
I'd tell you that it's simple and it was only ever thus
(Its never simple. Haven't you learned that yet?)
There is nowhere else that I belong
(Only here with me.)

The lone neon lights and the ache of the ocean,
(No longer peaceful)
And the fire that was starting to spark
(Why won't it burn?)
I miss it all from the love to the lightning
(Love doesn't exist)
And the lack of it snaps me in two
(Nothing can mend me)
Just give me a sign, there's an end with a beginning
(Don't promise...)
To the quiet chaos driving me back
(We're all mad here...)
The lone neon lights and the warmth of the ocean
(Can I find peace?)
And the fire that was starting to go out
(No more sparks)

An Answer to New York by Snow Patrol

First, If you haven't heard the song "New York" by Snow Patrol, Go NOW!  First it's a great song.  Second I wrote this poem about what the girl the song is written to feel when the boyfriend is home.
Here is a link for the song.

Is it Ever Enough?
The time we have together is precious
Way too much to waste
But what can you do when you only have minutes
When time together could be snatched away in an instant
When you only get brief glances
The future of husband and wife
We want to tell each other,
Of our secrets and our sins
If but one second is wasted,
That pressure is multiplied
To a thousand hours yet to be.
The stars lose their place in the heavenly orb
Without the Solar wind to guide them, to get them home.
So the time has come to conclude the telling of this tale
It is the moment to start a new fiction.
