Stories

I onced dreamed of great beauty
Like a lamp burning in the night
My flights turned to fancy
My wonders, endless delight

The world was edged in crimson,
A bastion, a bulwark, and safe
No troubles touched or teased me
No mettle tested my faith

Then came a change and so slowly
A crack in the concrete facade
Like riven rock fording the sea
Like a wave waiting on the esplanade

Retreating to my humble cottage
In my shock, I cast down my eyes
On my bedspread, I found sitting there
On the pillow was the final prize

Musings

Where do people go
When they just disappear?
Their lives but a memory
A dream in the night
Do they become angels
Watching over us by day?
Or are they simply
A figment,
Vanished,
When no one left remembers?

Breathing

When your name falls trippingly from my tongue
And you enter my consciousness
We breathe together into the night
Bodies and hearts entwined
The world goes away
Nothing exists but us
The darkness is enveloping

Deny me not your tender embrace

While we see The floating gossamer dreams elude and move away

They keep at bay From fairy dreams and flying free they change the mood

I must conclude That night will stop the endless day and sand will stop the sea

I now can see By waking dreams we all are wooed then time will pass away

I tried to fall in love today

And went to give my heart away

But I found a note that read

You stole my heart I’ve taken yours in stead

I thought about it long and hard

Who could be such a callow card?

To take my heart with nary a word?

Not even by a look inferred

Only one name came to mind

The tangled knot, it did unwind

I followed the path where it did lead

To retrieve my heart with utmost speed

But when I reached to bring it back

You grabbed my hand for a change of tack

We fell in to soulful bliss

As we slowly began to kiss

Now I know I have no heart

Needs must as needs outweigh

Carry the burden, seize the day

In darkest night or calmest bay

The ship is steady, it leads the way

Coming home in the misty spray

As morning breaks, the sailors pray

Home, at last, this time to stay

Oh Shallow moon thou art rife with anger

Your lowly orb hangs free and wild

It draws me, leads me away

I bow before it’s pale pure light

It washes o’re my hair

With strands of cherry wine

Green glades seem filled with ignoble creatures

Darkness fills the burgeoning night

I see the path that lies before me

It radiates from deep within

As long as I do not stray, 

I should see home this very night

Brazen red and orange

Clouds catching the light

Falling out of the sky

Day becoming the night

The moments seem to stop here

When all the world’s on fire

A spinning star stands still now

The eternal flame grows higher

Suddenly it’s over

Time begins anew

Magic is forgotten
