Our time is fast at hand

We must approach with care

The time we have to share

When we’ll walk hand in hand

Along the golden sand

We’ll make a lovely pair

Of only life were fair

But things don’t go as planned

Restraint must rule the day

We find our center space

To wait and rule our souls

We keep our love at bay

Till in the proper place

Till then pain takes its toll

Leave me, I beg you

I can’t stand this pain

You are low hanging fruit

Just there, but not quite ready

Everyone’s but never mine

A light of love, a will-o-the-wisp

Never seriously anything at all

One day you will be

But it won’t be with me

I’m not worthy of attention

I lack more then I possess

So one day they’ll come to take me

Many loving fans, I guess

Not really, nobody cares

I’ve been told that often enough

And if you hear it often enough

You begin to believe it

Maybe I worship the ground that you walk on

The Dog Days of Summer

The heat is gone

 But now it’s back

August is dragging on

Laying out on the lawn

But only if, an umbrella you pack

And August is dragging on

I know that time still marches on

Although sometime it seem to go forth and not back

And August keeps dragging on

I don’t understand the game in which I’m a pawn

As the Dog Days of Summer at your heels, will bark

And, still, uninterruptedly, August drags on and on…

When will it end? It keeps plowing on

Telling me, waiting, knowing they can keep a mark

Down they say,

                            One more day!

                            One more day!

              And August no more will drag on

              Although we long will be gone

              Free to hide and fight on

              Or walk and write on

              Our battle will be ceased

              Because we know

If you walk beside me in the rain

Can I walk with you in the sun?

Our feet splash the sidewalk together

The mud covers our shoes

It would be cool if we touched

I’m content to share air and mud

The sun warns our entwined spaces

Just a little while longer

Then I’ll pass along

I’ll go the other way

You go right, I’ll go left

The sun will go away

Rain will come

Shadows will stay

All that will be left are

I long to see the sunshine.

I miss the sea and sand.
