A noise that starts off slowly

Imperceptible in the background

Slowly

Building

A bit of a crack in the distance

Then suddenly a thunderous roar

The sounds of the thaw

Permeate

Invade

Time has come to move forward

Spread out from winter’s grip

Its hold gradually lessens

Then

With a snap

It is over

The silence is deafening

Ghostlight

When the curtains close

And the lights all dim

There’s only me

Standing there without him

The lights all fade

To the darkest of blacks

So deep that it burns

Inner demons attack

Swarming and seething

Eating mind and spirit

An all consuming power

No wonder I fear it

That empty stage

That lights on old ghosts

Brings light to the darkness

To what we fear most

So don’t leave me here

In the dark and alone

Give me thunderous cheers

I’ll truly be home
