Lay Down Your Head(Rondine)

Close your eyes, lay down your head
Still your soul and slow the heart beating, throbbing inside your chest Lounging across my inviting bed
I give you leave to completely spread
Your essence, body, burden, and godhead,
Here, now, when will you be able to rest?
What dreams will come?

Lay down your weary head,
The future shows what's coming is best
Will I be made to follow like the rest?
But if you place your arms in mine, we'll place our heads together,
For in such sleep, what dreams do come

Singular Lonesome Song

Not sure if I've said the words,
Or said them quite often enough.
But the feelings are there, counted.
Even when I seem angry or gruff.

Sometimes life is too weary.
This burden unwieldy, and vast.
Pain that's echoing onward,
Keeping injury after it's past.

I shouldn't be adding to your lot.
To do so's incredibly wrong.
It's simply that I can not bear it,
The singular, lonesome song.

So if you can, come quickly.
If not, whenever is best.
But when you do we'll leave here,
Take a break and then take a rest.

Writer's Block

The creative process slows to a crawl
My pen is limp in my hand
And…
Now…
I...
Wait…
And now with each word I scrawl
My brain starts to expand
The words begin to flow
Expanding at a faster pace
I allow as that my rest is done
It’s broken its terrible brace
I have lifted the veil and seen

Race

Race
This breakneck speed, it never stops
A frantic, hectic pace
The crashing, clanking sound of the world
There’s a reason it’s called the human race
Where do we go when just need a break
When you need to just get away
Sometimes we all need a new look on life
A new prospective on the day
So we head for mountain, sand and shore
To relax and recharge and rest
But maybe we don’t know how to slow ourselves down
What methods really work the best
A change is coming carried on currents
Which way they blow no one knows
Just try to keep your head on straight
This world keeps you on your toes

Safe Harbor

If tomorrow is all we have
Let us be content with today
When troubles light this world
And sadness is the safest bet
We all hold hands in sorrow
Our grief brings us together
We no longer strive for the future
We long to reach the middle
A safe shore, a harbor in a storm
A port until the way is clear
Tomorrow is miles away
Rest until
The end of day
