Shades (Terza Rima Sonnet)

There are Shades twixt blue and green Whose light is barely shown
Many ponder what it means

It beckons me in with a deep dark moan.
Begging me to stay
The idea chills me to the very bone

I reflect on my thoughts and start to pray
Looking beyond these eyes
Watching as sunlight changes green to grey

From now on there will be no cloudy skies
With the magic shade to guide me
I lift my heart and soul so I can fly

All this because of green-blue eyes

Even if they sometimes lie...

Pardon me I did not see

The light that left your eye

Deliver me and set me free

I believed your tender lie

The world is made of grey and pale

Not just black and white

I saw your love exchange for sale

In fell and blackest night

Now you are just like the rest

Trying to make life seem stable

But that is not what you do best

You can only do what you’re able

Time to rest for the second act

Time to get yourself on track

Cynical

I think you think me a cynic

That I haven’t found the right man

But I’m not that much of a finick

He’s tall and handsome and tan

He’ll jolly but acquainted with fate

He’s eyes are grey, brown and blue

His hair is curly and straight

He’s skinny and fat and short too!

You can say I’m quite insane

It doesn’t matter to me

For when I met my twinflame

He looked anywhere but at me

So if, to you, I seem selfish

When you talk of fish in the sea

Remember that I HATE shellfish

And the mercury is poisoning me

Grey Skies

Grey Skies

The dark clouds are heavy in the sky

They brim with the tears of heaven

It falls with desperate longing

I look out my window

The drops fall faster

A heavy heart

When it stops

Skies clear

Calm

I’d forgotten about these weird little forms of poems.  This is a Nonet.  It starts with nine syllable then each line has a decrease if one syllable until the last line which has one.  Interesting.  But I needed a form tonight. Lacking inspiration.

I can never be the better person

Isolation

There’s a place up on a mountain

Or a cabin by the sea

When the time comes to stop running

Come there to look for me

I might not be the best companion

By the time you come for me

By then we will both be grey

But at least we will be free

A focused mind amasses much skill

To doubt it would be unwise

Some say it is impossible

To be free from spying eyes

This is proper motivation

All one really needs to be

With constant love and devotion

One wholly becomes free

But that’s another story

For today we’re miles apart

Take a deep breath and remember

You’ve been written on my heart
