So many ways to say

One simple little thing

Do we fear the words themselves?

Is it the intimacy?

Or do we not really mean it

When we use other phrases?

We’ve become so close,

Our world so small

But we’re miles apart in our heads,

In our hearts

When we can communicate so well

Translate a thousand tongues

Why is it so hard

To say three little words?

No matter the language

We must learn

We must try

Its gentle pattern

The nice cozy feeling

Even the thunder and the lightning

Splitting the sky and sending shivers

Then a rainbow, a promise to all

But the promise is just words

As my body screams

Some mumbo jumbo about pressure and moisture

Sure as the rainfall

Has a different meaning now

A thousand phrases

Have added colors

Unfortunately they all seem to be
