The sad eyes sat in the corner so pale

Their soul, their sorrow showed

Remembering days of suns without fail

When they soared and feasted and savored

The knowledge showed in great detail

Falls from grace are meted

Hubris is a twice told tale

That often is repeated

Careful heroes never fail

But rarely are they feted

When inner demons rage and wail

Sad eyes will be entreated

One step ahead and two behind

Getting the pacing just right

If the world falls away could we walk hand in hand?

And finally step into the light?

Does it matter who is in the front now?

Does it matter who brings up the rear?

If one of us follows the other,

We will end up together, my dear.

My solution in the end is simple,

We stop this running around.

Find a spot that we can settle down now,

And we will have nothing to fear.
