Willpower

As we lay, hip-to-hip
Breathing each other in
I call upon ancient gods
To worship with me
At the altar of you
Offering wine shared on lips
Kneeling at your feet
Giving, sacrificing
With wild abandon
This soul is yours
Make of it as you will

Deadly

Deadly

Tell me of the howling of winds
That blow the bleakest black
Whisper of your darkest sins
God and I will hear of your slack
Whisper to me of cleverness
Of great deeds, of battles foretold
Don’t try to make it seem less
Clever or brave or bold
Remind me of your virility
Of women, of wine, of song
Don’t bother with humility
Tragic tales are often too long
Shout of your numerous possessions
Of which you only want more
These are private confessions
Not added to legend of lore
Adding substance to the world though
Would require much effort, a coup
Forgive the truly low blow
But that seems too much effort for you
The world must seem like an oyster
One that you wish to eat
You feel as though you’ve been cloistered
And lacking of anything sweet
Forgive my troubled verses
I see the ire in your eyes
Little effect have your curses
The truth will outweigh the lies.

Generations

Generations

They go where time does not expire
And wait for no new moon
Winter falls in summer’s swoon
The creeping vine begins to seed
A world explodes in endless fire
Mouths fill with the taste of mead
And liquor turns the stoutest liar
Some obstacles become a boon
If, of our lives, we do take head
We walk all day on tight rope wires
And end up with the greatest wound
So shall we soon change our tune?
We make ourselves fulfill our need
Our grandest wish becomes desire
More will come like endless weeds
Of everything you will tire
It will come full circle soon
And the look will be parent to the deed

Consummation

When the time comes
The banquet will be ready
Feasting will begin
Fresh fruit of the vine
Cherries bursting with ripeness
The cup will runneth over
Needs will be fulfilled
Moonlight will rise over the meadow
Triggering hidden wisdom
Fruits of labor
Gladly consumed

At Rest

Elbows at rest on the bedspread
Sunlight plays across your hair
Tension has been consumed
Torment is no more
I taste your last sip of wine
It betrays your love of cherries
Wish we could have this moment forever
Time stops as sweat pools in the small of your back
When we come
Together there is nothing else
The world ceases
My world is you
