The visual evidence does not lie

There is no weeping and wailing

Perhaps there may be heaving of sighs

Don’t come to me later with hands wringing

Bemoaning what would or could have been

Most trouble is tricky and cloyingly clinging

Solutions come quickly when you open your eyes

Time is rapidly passing

Maintaining illusions might win the prize

But lies come home a-winging

The row is hard to hoe

It often sets heads to ringing

What would we do

If we obtained our hearts desire?

Would we stop striving

Live in complacency?

For without our dreams

We are simply carbon atoms

Occupying space

Till we return to sand

Perhaps the worst thing

Is to obtain perfection

For in gaining what we seek

We destroy all that we are
