Rambling

Straining, reaching, just out of grasp

Looking around but never to touch

The silver shadows stalk my mind

As I lay here, wanting you so much

My mind’s distracted and confused

All my thoughts center on my one true love

I only hope to change my mind

And I will find peace from above

No longer do I seem to care

As the hours while away

Filling time better left alone

With no companions to spend the day

Only stories end happily

Full of love and moon and rhyme

Real life never turns out so well

It simply runs out of rhyme

And all our actions catch up to us

What we live and how we dreamed

Unworthy of paradise

Life was better than what it seemed

Punishment awaits me now

For sins of thought and heart and mind

I should have known to let it go

An earthly heaven I’ve yet to find
