Twas in this bleak and barren land
A single light did shine
Revealing there for all the world
The hope that would be mine
A loving, caring patient man
With soul of burnish gold
He knew the measure of a heart
Kept secrets he'd been told
More faded then a lullaby
His race is more than run
I hold him as he turns to cry
I must be the stronger one
Peace is found in withered arms
And calm in shades of blue
Eyes exchanging pregnant looks
No need to chase, pursue
Sitting there by roaring fire
The storm outside extreme
Only a slow and throbbing ache
Proves life is not a dream
