Deception

I once saw a future for us filled with hope
One seemingly blessed by a Pope
But one can not believe all that one sees
Or did my eyes once deceive me?

______

You stay out later and later each day
Keeping yourself far away from me
I try to avoid the fray
Are my eyes still deceiving me?

_____

This isn't my first rodeo
I'm not a kitten stuck up a tree
It may be time for me to be free
'Cause my eyes are no longer deceiving me.

Hashtag Poem (#Whentoyscometolife)

#Whenthetoyscametolife the adults went away
This couldn't have happen on just any day
The children took over with scooters and bikes
They all told their parents to just take a hike
But soon it was over, the children quietly sleep,
The toys fell down lifelesss, while the grown children weep.

Understanding

Though they try to tear you down
When insults and calamities abound
I wish that they would let you be
That they could see the joy I see
Ti capisco, mon ami

When the world has gotten wild
And no one can agree
Adults become the petulant child
Ti capisco, mon ami

So when you feel sad or blue
When you want to be free
The words I speak are always true
Ti capisco, mon ami

Loss

I used to think like you
To be young and naive
When the world was my oyster
And all my wishes fulfilled
But now I bare the scars
Of life obtained
The days unlived
And the time spent in sorrow
I know you will join me one day
And for that loss
For those sorrows yet to come
I pity you
