Savored sensations
Sliding slowly, sensuously,
Succeeding in assaulting my body
Driving me increasingly mad,
Making my memories meander,
Musty, misty memories
Caught in time's bitter embrace
Embarrassing how this happens
Each time, every time
Even when I know you intend to stay
Joy turns to pain,
It's transmutated
Chemical, physical and beyond
And those savored, sensuous, slippery, sensations
Are now only memories
Made and forgotten

Transmutation

Evening
As we sit,
Sharing drinks by the fire
I feel air
From your lungs
Wrap around the base
Of my tongue
It tastes bitter and sweet,
Hot and sour all at once
I plunge into the depths of your soul
I'm drowning
You rescue me from dying in your eyes
Only to die later
In your arms

Imperative
I would...
Write a thousand songs
Walk a thousand miles
Die a thousand deaths
Anything...
Just to be with you
Just to see the light in your eyes
Just until the morning
I am...
Waiting, wanting, weary of the world
Desperate, despairing, denied of your love
Cautious, careful, considering my next move
I would.
I will.
I am.
Passion
Playing, laughing,
And coming to hear,
Sounds in the darkness,
Sweet to my ear.
Intimate portraits
Of friends oh so near.
Never ending love.
My Love
You're sweet my love
You never shall sour
You're innocent my love,
You've never known.
You're new my love,
A blossoming flower.
You deserve my love,
A place to call home.

Better Days
I can't think of more to say
I've said it all
And then the feeling comes
Rushing back into my heart
I remember that you've left it behind
Alone with my body and soul
This distant between us
It could be bridged by love
But is it too far to be bound
Even by blue and gold?
The words you say
Aren't comforting in the least
As I lay my head on my pillow
Close my eyes
And dream of better days

Stubborn
We are often told
To take the better path
To be the bigger person
I'm afraid I've spent too long
Begging at your feet
I no longer know how to stand
Upright on my own
And no one would want
This frail, human body
Complete with foibles and flaws
No upgrades included
I'm ready for a trade-in myself
If one becomes available
No one likes a project
When they can buy brand new
Ready for the junk pile
Just too stubborn to relocate

In need of Repair...
Tossed and torn on the wayside there
Broken and bleeding heart barely beating
Waiting while wishing someone would care
____________________________________
The air grows heavy and fills with despair
Time ticks apace to show that it's fleeting
While waiting wishing someone would care
____________________________________
Tossed and torn on the wayside there
A meant-to-be becomes a missed meeting
If you had come, would I have been ware?
____________________________________
While waiting wishing someone would care
Plainly, passively, passionately, entreating,
Tossed and torn on the wayside there
____________________________________
Will this again be too much to bear?
To give up now would be cheating
Tossed and torn on the wayside there
While waiting wishing someone would care
